Using China's National Knowledge Inventory and the WOSB, academic articles on NbS are screened to identify critical points, explore relationships between research pieces, and propose avenues for enhancing NbS in academic and industrial contexts. The study reveals a current focus on object-based schemes rather than subject or goal-based approaches, emphasizing the importance of indigenous resource applications within China's NbS development. The findings shed light on diverse domestic and international methods employed to investigate and implement Nature-based approaches, facilitating their localization in China.</p>
<kwd-group kwd-group-type="author"><kwd>climate change</kwd><kwd> equitable development</kwd><kwd> policy tools</kwd><kwd> ecosystem preservation</kwd><kwd> restoration initiatives</kwd><kwd> sponge towns</kwd><kwd> water management</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back>
<title>Data Availability</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<title>Conflicts of Interest</title><p>All authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.</p>
<title>Authors&#x2019; Contributions</title><p>The author confirms sole responsibility for the following: study conception and design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation.</p>
<title>Funding Statement</title><p>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</p>
<title>software-information</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<ack><title>Acknowledgments</title><p>I thank the following individuals for their expertise and assistance in all aspects of our study and for their help in writing the manuscript.
