Because it may represent a wide range of environmental, occupational, and lifestyle exposures, hair provides a practical, non-invasive matrix for assessing exposure over time. This study presents HairX, a state-of-the-art database developed to support exposome studies conducted on human hair. In addition to demographic and lifestyle variables, HairX incorporates multi-omics data, which includes chemical profiling, genetic information, and metabolomics. This study focuses on the database's development, its use in expanding exposome research, and its future ability to fill knowledge gaps on environmental exposures and their effects on human health.</p>
<kwd-group kwd-group-type="author"><kwd>Human hair</kwd><kwd> Exposome</kwd><kwd> Environmental exposures</kwd><kwd> HairX</kwd><kwd> Chemical profiling</kwd><kwd> Multi-omics</kwd><kwd> Toxicology</kwd><kwd> Public health</kwd><kwd> Biomonitoring</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement>This work did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for its research, authorship, or publication.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back>
<title>Data Availability</title><p>Data sharing is not relevant to this study.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<title>Conflicts of Interest</title><p>There are no conflicts of interest to report from any of the authors.</p>
<title>Authors&#x2019; Contributions</title><p>The author handled all aspects of the study, including its design, data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation.</p>
<title>Funding Statement</title><p>This work did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for its research, authorship, or publication.</p>
<title>software-information</title><p>There is no software or tools usage information relevant to this research.</p>
<ack><title>Acknowledgments</title><p>I acknowledge the support and expertise of those who helped with this research and manuscript, and thank the peer reviewers for their valuable insights.</p></ack><ref-list content-type="authoryear"><ref id="1"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>-</p></element-citation></ref></ref-list></back></article>
