When it comes to protecting Lepidoptera species, moths have traditionally been seen as the "poor cousins" of butterflies, receiving far less attention and funding while being just as important to the group. A little over 5,600 of the estimated 11,300 butterfly and butterfly varieties native to India are present in museums and private collections. This deficiency has hindered research into the group and attempts to promote and protect these insects. Assessing the effectiveness of federal programs in this domain. It is recommended that steps be taken to further Lepidoptera study in India.&nbsp;</p>
<kwd-group kwd-group-type="author"><kwd>macrolepidoptera</kwd><kwd> insect</kwd><kwd> invertebrates</kwd><kwd> endangered</kwd><kwd> beetles</kwd><kwd> moths</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back>
<title>Data Availability</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<title>Conflicts of Interest</title><p>All authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.</p>
<title>Authors&#x2019; Contributions</title><p>The author confirms sole responsibility for the following: study conception and design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation.</p>
<title>Funding Statement</title><p>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</p>
<title>software-information</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<ack><title>Acknowledgments</title><p>I thank the following individuals for their expertise and assistance in all aspects of our study and for their help in writing the manuscript.
