The paper explores the unique environmental conditions and traditional farming practices contributing to Charotar's suitability for tobacco cultivation. It delves into the region's semi-arid climate, fertile sandy loam soils, and access to irrigation from the Narmada canal system. Furthermore, the meticulous practices employed by Charotar farmers are examined, including land preparation, seedling nurturing, transplanting, weed management, and fertilization. The harvesting process and various curing techniques, such as air curing and fire curing, are also discussed. By understanding these factors, the paper sheds light on the economic significance of tobacco farming in Charotar and the intricate relationship between the region's natural resources and agricultural practices.</p>
<kwd-group kwd-group-type="author"><kwd>Tobacco farming</kwd><kwd> Charotar</kwd><kwd> Gujarat</kwd><kwd> climate</kwd><kwd> soil</kwd><kwd> irrigation</kwd><kwd> cultivation practices</kwd><kwd> harvesting</kwd><kwd> curing</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back>
<title>Data Availability</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<title>Conflicts of Interest</title><p>All authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.</p>
<title>Authors&#x2019; Contributions</title><p>The author confirms sole responsibility for the following: study conception and design, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation.</p>
<title>Funding Statement</title><p>The authors did not receive any specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.</p>
<title>software-information</title><p>Not applicable</p>
<ack><title>Acknowledgments</title><p>I thank the following individuals for their expertise and assistance in all aspects of our study and for their help in writing the manuscript.
