This study examines doorway locations' architectural and symbolic significance, considering how they mediated access to the divine and shaped social interactions within sacred spaces. Through analysis of historical records and architectural surveys, the research highlights the influence of doorway placement on ritual practices, theological symbolism, and communal boundaries. The findings suggest that doorways served as physical transitions and markers of spiritual thresholds, reinforcing religious hierarchies and shaping community interactions within the church.</p>
<kwd-group kwd-group-type="author"><kwd>Medieval England</kwd><kwd> doorways</kwd><kwd> parish sanctuaries</kwd><kwd> shrines</kwd><kwd> religious architecture</kwd><kwd> sacred spaces</kwd><kwd> community boundaries</kwd><kwd> theological symbolism</kwd><kwd> ritual practices</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement>This study did not receive specific financial support from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back>
<title>Data Availability</title><p>Data sharing is not part of this study.</p>
<title>Conflicts of Interest</title><p>The authors state that they have no conflicts of interest regarding this article.</p>
<title>Authors&#x2019; Contributions</title><p>The author confirms that they were solely responsible for the study's planning, data acquisition, results interpretation, and manuscript writing.</p>
<title>Funding Statement</title><p>This study did not receive specific financial support from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors.</p>
<title>software-information</title><p>The study did not make use of any special software or tools.</p>
<ack><title>Acknowledgments</title><p>I appreciate the assistance and expertise provided by everyone involved in this research and manuscript, and the valuable comments from peer reviewers.</p></ack><ref-list content-type="authoryear"><ref id="1"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>-</p></element-citation></ref></ref-list></back></article>
